HARDWOOD DOOR REFINISHING

Photos of a few jobs I've done... with some customer feedback

(Click on any image for a larger more detailed view in a new window)

Door panel - before

(serious sun and water damage)

Refinished doors - AFTER

Door panel - AFTER

This beautiful pair of Brazilian Oak doors had NOT been cared for correctly,

resulting in serious damage not only to the varnish finish, but also to the lower panels

which had to be completely replaced - at significant expense!

Most people seem to assume that once varnished their front doors will last forever.  WRONG!

Almost all finishes start to break down after only a few years and no longer protect the wood, permitting it to absorb moisture and UV rays - and gradually deteriorate!

FACT: all varnished hardwood doors need to be lightly refinished every few years - especially if they are exposed to the harsh Florida sunlight.

Your doors were a significant investment and the correct preventive maintenance is inexpensive compared to waiting too long ... then having to repair, strip, stain and re-varnish them!

Before - sun bleached ... and nearly ruined!

AFTER - better than new

"Don, we're very pleased with the result!

Feel free to use us as a reference anytime."

J. Groesbeck - Safety Harbor

Before - 70's style pine doors,

starting to seriously fade

AFTER - stripped to bare, stained

'"Red Mahogany" and well varnished

Before - serious water damage

Before - water damage at the joints

AFTER - fully restored AFTER

One of the most beautiful sets of doors

I've ever seen... now correctly restored and protected for many years to come

AFTER - fully restored

Before - the wood is no longer protected

and is showing serious damage

Before - the varnish no longer protects the wood

and white (damaged) areas are showing

AFTER - fully restored -

and very well protected

AFTER - a thorough sanding and adequate

varnishing resolves the problems

Before - the wood used for this door and

the side-light frame don't match ...

... so I built a matching door and side-light frames from White Oak, using the existing glass - AFTER

"Don's work is truly spectacular.

Our entry doors really needed attention

and are even more beautiful now

than when they were new!"

Michele H. - Treasure Island

Original entry doors - before

New doors and side-lites - AFTER

This customer called me to see if we could "refinish" his original doors.

Turns out that this was not at all practical - they were made from cheap pine, had multiple coats of old paint

and leaked ... so the most cost-effective solution was to go ahead and build him a new entry door,

sidelites and framework from "Sapele" Mahogany, using the original art-glass, finished with satin varnish.

Refinished entry doors - AFTER

Refinished doors (high gloss varnish) - AFTER

These newly refinished beveled glass doors had unfortunately been "pressure washed"

at some point resulting in discoloring and deterioration of the old varnish finish.

Also, the central 'thermal' glass panel had slid down due to incorrect manufacturing

which bent the metal frame, broke the seal and resulted in serious "fogging", and leaks.

"Very well built fence and gate done with zero fuss. Don takes the problem off your plate, required no supervision and gave me a fantastic product. Never thought I'd get this excited over a gate and fence!

Thanks Don"
